With its debut episode having broadcast in 1996, the forensic-crime drama returns for its 25th series. To mark the anniversary, Amanda Burton is back reprising her role as Sam Ryan, the lead character in the first eight series.

The former pathologist has moved up in the world, and her success as the founder of a medical data company sets the stage for the latest murder to be solved, when the health minister is shot dead at the announcement of a government contract.

Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox, far right with Burton) and her team of forensic investigators are asked to look into the killing. It’s soon apparent that Ryan is harbouring secrets, and the unthinkable begins to dawn: that Dr Alexander’s illustrious predecessor could somehow be a suspect.
