Don’t lose heart after IVF woe, Emma
I read with interest the article about BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour presenter Emma Barnett’s revelation that she had a miscarriage during several gruelling rounds of IVF to conceive a second child. So many couples have to endure rounds and rounds of IVF. My sister-in-law is one of them going through this process. It must be intense, and my heart goes out to those who don’t succeed the first time and may never succeed.

I really hope IVF succeeds for Emma (left). My daughter conceived on her seventh attempt, so there’s always hope.

IVF is like a rollercoaster: there are many lows, but the small glimmers of hope keep you motivated. I hope that Emma gets her much desired second child.
W. Davis, East Lothian
There are so many poor children out there looking for their ‘forever homes’. Why doesn’t Emma adopt?
J. Miller, Derby
It’s important to remember that you are not less of a woman if you don’t have children or can’t conceive. Be kind to yourself, Emma, and focus on keeping your mental health healthy.
