Morton Shand was married four times – first (1916-20) to Edith Marguerite Harrington, with whom he fathered Bruce Shand, Camilla’s father. Edith died in Bexhill in 1980. Next was Agatha Alys FabreTonnere (1920-26), Sylvia’s mother. Alys also died in Bexhill, in 1981. Third was Georgette Avril of Lyon, France (1926-31). They had no children. Fourth wife was Sybil Sissons (1931-60). They had a daughter, Elspeth, who became Tory Chancellor Geoffrey Howe’s wife.
