At the age of 38, Alex Brooker (right) has realised: ‘It’s not normal to just like football and Ghostbusters.’ So in this four-part series he’s off around Britain to discover new hobbies in the company of famous friends. Coming up in future episodes are comedian Joe Wilkinson, The Inbetweeners’ Joe Thomas and chef and broadcaster Andi Oliver.

In the opening episode Brooker is joined by reality star Scarlett Moffatt (right) for a trip to Edinburgh. They start off at a chess club that’s the second-oldest in the world to see if they’ll be entranced or bored by the board. Then it’s time to try out home brewing before finally journeying to Loch Leven to discover the joys of birdwatching.

It’s all fast-paced enough, though ultimately lacking a genuine sense of fun as the two stars seem to do little more than go through the motions.
