SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 3 WYCOMBE 1

DARREN MOORE hailed his Sheffield Wednesday side for producing ‘more or less the perfect game’ after beating Wycombe Wanderers at home.

The hosts took the lead after just 38 seconds when Joe Jacobson turned the ball into his own net following Marvin Johnson’s low cross. Sam Vokes equalised, firing into the net from 12 yards out after work from Anis Mehmeti.

Sheffield Wednesday restored their lead when Barry Bannan applied the finish at the far post after meeting Michael Smith’s ball into the six-yard box.

Substitute Callum Paterson rounded off the scoring moments before the final whistle, with Moore saying: ‘We’ve beaten a real good team today, with the experience that they’ve got and the threats that they carry.’ Opposite number Gareth Ainsworth said: ‘They caught us on the hop, which isn’t us.’
