Pele gets ‘end of life’ care
BRAZILIAN football legend Pele has reportedly been moved to end-of-life care after he stopped responding to treatment for bowel cancer. Last night, fans and footballers sent best wishes to the three-time World Cup winner.
Reports in Brazil said the 82-year-old went into hospital in Sao Paulo last week with heart failure but is now receiving treatment to relieve pain in an ‘end-of-life palliative care’ ward.
He was told he had cancer last summer.
