It’s Strictly the end of the road for Street’s Kym

By Sabrina Miller

FORMER pop star and Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh bade farewell to Strictly Come Dancing last night after she became the tenth celebrity to be eliminated from this year’s series.

Ms Marsh, 46, lost a closely fought battle against Britain’s Got Talent finalist Molly Rainford.

The mother of four and grandmother of three – who almost quit in October after suffering panic attacks – said she had ‘loved every single second’ of the show and has made a ‘friend for ever’ in dance partner Graziano Di Prima.

Ms Marsh was forced to pull out last week after testing positive for Covid, with Strictly fans accusing her of getting a ‘free pass’ into the next round.

But this week her hopes of winning ended after she came bottom on Friday’s leaderboard with a performance of Cha Cha to Fame from the musical of the same name. She was then unable to save herself in the dreaded dance-off as the judges voted to keep Ms Rainford instead.

Ms Marsh said: ‘I never thought I’d get to this stage in a million years. It’s all down to this man [Graziano] here, he is just wonderful and will be my friend for ever.’ This week’s live show was moved from its usual Saturday night slot to Friday, because of World Cup scheduling, with the results programme screened yesterday at 5.40pm. The five remaining couples will compete in next week’s semi-finals for the chance to win the coveted Glitterball Trophy.
