John Lewis cuts store heat by 2C

JOHN Lewis is turning down the temperature in its stores this month as it faces rising heating bills.

Staff received an email saying: ‘The temperature of our branches, offices and distribution centres will be reduced by 2C.’ It added that without energysaving measures, there would be an ‘£18million energy cost overspend’.

The John Lewis Partnership (JLP) also operates Waitrose, where the lighting will be dimmed on Monday to Friday for the first two hours of trading. JLP says the impact on shoppers will be minimal and the policy will be kept under review.
