■ ON THE day her countrymen were advancing to the O quarter-finals of the men’s World Cup, Vivianne Miedema kept her Arsenal side in the chase for the women’s Super League title. The Dutch striker produced a superb finish in the 24th minute to give Arsenal a 1-0 win against Everton at Meadow Park. Miedema had seven shots at goal in a dominating performance only to be denied by determined Everton defending.
