May adviser back at Home Office

THERESA May’s former adviser Nick Timothy is to return to the Home Office to launch a ‘nuts and bolts’ review of the department.

He has been called in by Home Secretary Suella Braverman before an imminent overhaul of immigration laws, The Mail on Sunday has learned. Mr Timothy will seek to improve the branch after a spate of recent scandals.

Last year, thousands of people were prevented from leaving Kent immigration centre Manston, leading to overcrowding and disease. Mrs Braverman was also sacked for leaking Government files, but later reinstated. Mr Timothy suggested the UK leave the European Convention on Human Rights in his think-tank report published last month.
