LEAGUE ONE

CHARLTON 1 BOLTON 2

IAN EVATT believes Dion Charles could have scored more than just one goal in Bolton’s win at Charlton. The 27-year-old was mistakenly sent off in their 1-0 win at Forest Green, but Bolton successfully appealed. Aaron Morley’s excellent 30-yard free-kick had put Evatt’s side into a fourth-minute lead, before Albie Morgan levelled in the 46th minute. Evatt said: ‘That’s the football gods smiling down on Charles. He’s got a goal and probably could’ve had two.’

PETERBOROUGH 2 PORTSMOUTH 1

DARREN FERGUSON breathed a sigh of relief after his triumphant return to Peterborough continued. A brace from Jonson ClarkeHarris saw off the visitors, who scored when Nathan Thompson put into his own net. He said: ‘We should have been out of sight.’

MK DONS 0 EXETER CITY 2

GARY CALDWELL showered praise on the ‘brilliant’ Jevani Brown, whose double led Exeter to a routine win. Brown netted in each half, as the visitors recorded a first-ever victory at Stadium MK. Caldwell said: ‘His return of goals and assists is great and he can keep improving, too.’

LINCOLN 0 CAMBRIDGE 0

MARK BONNER urged Cambridge fans to strap in for an ‘emotional roller coaster’ as they try to avoid relegation after stopping the rot. The away side bounced back from conceding 10 goals in their past two away games to earn a point.

BURTON 2 OXFORD 0

DINO MAAMRIA was in bullish mood after seeing his Burton side pick up a win on the ‘perfect afternoon.’ Debutant Zac Ashworth saw a 30-yard volley cannon back off a post, before hitting keeper Simon Eastwood and bouncing in. Fellow new boy Dale Taylor made it 2-0.

CHELTENHAM 0 PORT VALE 0

BOSS Darrell Clarke described Port Vale’s display in their draw at Cheltenham as ‘dominant’, despite an inability to find a goal. Substitute Rory Holden’s header against the bar was the closest they came to breaking through.

MORECAMBE 5 BRISTOL ROV 1

FOUR second-half goals gave Morecambe a convincing victory over Bristol Rovers. Dan Crowley netted in the first half, before Donald Love, Cole Stockton and Adam Mayor struck. James Connolly put through his own net, with Aaron Collins grabbing a consolation after Scott Sinclair’s missed penalty.
