TRANMERE 1 L ORIENT 0

MICKY MELLON was delighted with the contribution of his new signings, as Tranmere beat the leaders. A late own goal from defender Omar Beckles proved to be the difference. Mellon said: ‘We knew that we’d have to get most things right. We felt we needed a big performance and to get a big result which we probably haven’t had so far this season.’

BARROW 0 NORTHAMPTON 2

JON BRADY’S ‘simple’ half-time team talk proved the catalyst for Northampton’s return to winning ways. The away side took control after the interval, with goals from Ben Fox and Shaun McWilliams.

CRAWLEY 3 SALFORD CITY 2

NEW manager Scott Lindsey got off to a superb start in his first game in charge of Crawley Town. Dominic Telford, Dion Conroy and Teddy Jenks all netted, with Salford replying through Ryan Watson and Matty Lund, in injury time.

SWINDON 3 GILLINGHAM 3

MANSFIELD 4 DONCASTER 1

HARTLEPOOL 1 COLCHESTER 2

MATT BLOOMFIELD praised the character of his Colchester side after some ‘late drama’. Fiacre Kelleher put the visitors ahead, with Jamie Sterry levelling. Alex Newby had the final say late on.

HARROGATE 0 SUTTON UNITED 1

MATT GRAY heaped praise on Sutton players, calling them ‘outstanding’ for grinding out a victory. Harrogate made four half-time substitutions and changed their system three times, but it was not enough as David Ajiboye grabbed the winner.
