Reds’ class of 93 reunited

READING manager Paul Ince had more pressing matters yesterday, but most of his old Manchester United team-mates got together to mark the 30th anniversary of winning the inaugural Premier League title in 1993.

The event at the Lowry Theatre in Salford featured Bryan Robson, Clayton Blackmore, Mike Phelan, Gary Pallister, Lee Sharpe, Brian McClair, Mark Hughes, Denis Irwin and Paul Parker. Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Peter Schmeichel and Steve Bruce were the notable absentees.

Speaking to fans who paid up to £70 for a ticket, McClair joked about his rather unkempt appearance by saying: ‘To alleviate the fears of the audience, I do have somewhere to stay tonight!’
