The West African kingdom of Dahomey (modern-day Benin) in the early 19th Century, a time still dominated by the Atlantic slave trade, was defended by female warriors known as the Agojie. The leader of the Agojie is General Nanisca (Viola Davis), who aims to free Dahomey from the larger Oyo Empire. The impressive cast includes John Boyega and Lashana Lynch. Critics loved this film, audiences less so. From Monday
