WEATHER WATCH

We commonly see a surge of milder weather around this time of year. We have seen some pleasant spring days this month punctuated by colder nights and spells of very wet weather, notably across north Wales, Cumbria and south-west Scotland. Over this weekend the weather is switching seasons again as colder winds extend south from Scotland.

The University Boat Race goes ahead this afternoon just as the weather undergoes this dip in fortunes. Some heavy morning rain should give way but the Thames could be choppy, which should make for a more interesting event than is sometimes the case. Expect frost at the start of the new working week, but this should be a short cold snap with milder winds and rainbands returning quickly from the west.
