Scotland 3 Cyprus 0

SCOTT McTOMINAY spared Scotland a tense finish to their Euro 2024 qualifying opener with a late double.

After John McGinn’s 21st-minute opener had gifted Steve Clarke’s men a dream start three subs — including McTominay — combined to settle the outcome.

Ryan Christie stood up a cross to the back post where Lyndon Dykes cushioned a header into the path of McTominay, who finished with aplomb. The midfielder’s second owed much to McGinn, who fed Christie on the left with a quick free kick. His low cross was partly a shot but Andy Robertson rolled a pass into McTominay’s path for a calm finish.
