Soldiers told: Not all women are female
By Mark Hookham and Michael Powell
DEFENCE chiefs were last night accused of ‘woke nonsense’ for saying ‘not all women are biologically female’.
A new Inclusive Language Guide published by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) warns members of the Armed Forces that using ‘woman’ and ‘female’ interchangeably ‘erases’ members of the trans community.
The guide is described as a ‘practical toolkit’ to help personnel understand why ‘certain words or use of language is hurtful or non-inclusive’.
In the section ‘Woman or female’, the document states the words ‘mean different things but are often used interchangeably’. It adds: ‘Not all women are biologically female.’
The document includes a link to the Stonewall website.
Maya Forstater, executive director of the Sex Matters campaign group, said: ‘This language is unintelligible to anyone who hasn’t been doing a gender studies course in a university.’
Freedom of expression campaigner Rob Jessel said the MoD has fallen into the grip of rights group Stonewall’s ‘crusade to destroy the concept of sex in law’. The MoD said the guide offers advice on ‘how to communicate respectfully’.
