A FURTHER 18 people in Scotland have died of coronavirus in 24 hours during Friday and yesterday, Government figures show.

Data released yesterday also confirmed there were 2,417 new cases, 210 fewer than Friday’s figures.

A total of 943 people are in hospital with recently confirmed Covid, down 47 in 24 hours. Meanwhile, 61 patients with coronavirus are in intensive care, down three on the previous day.

The daily figures also show 4,246,101 people have received their first dose of a vaccine and 3,859,839 have received a second.

Public Health Scotland figures also show more than a third of 12 to 15year-olds in Scotland – 78,097 – have received a first vaccination dose, with 277 receiving both doses.

Health secretary Humza Yousaf shared the latest figures for the four UK nations, with Scotland showing the lowest number of cases per 100,000. It comes after data showed 551 people who tested positive were at the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow around the time of their illness.
