I’m willing to work at 68, but I’m frozen out
Regarding last week’s Letter of the Week – ‘Over-65s could fill UK job vacancies’: I am 68 and until August worked as a clinical administrator. Since then I have applied for dozens of jobs and signed up to even more online agencies, but am still unemployed.
It is disheartening when after completing an application form, it is not even acknowledged.
I would love to work just two or three days a week, as I feel I still have a lot to offer.
I decided to change career and applied to be shop assistant in a high-street chain.
My teenage granddaughter applied to the same shop – guess who had an immediate interview and has got the job? Janet Delahunty,
Aylesbury
