It’s only a pop song, Alexandra!

Letters

I was interested to read about Alexandra Shulman’s reaction to the song When I’m SixtyFour by The Beatles, mainly because I’d always thought of her as being in her mid-50s at most. Having recently turned 66 myself, I would like to reassure her that, now the milestone has passed, it is no longer something to fear but just a rather catchy song! Fiona Crawford, Fulford, York It’s surprising that Alexandra misses the point and background to the John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney song When I’m Sixty-Four. Surely she is able to understand that the song was written almost 60 years ago by two twentysomethings, at a time when 64 was old! Life expectancy has changed a lot since then.
