JOSH DOIG is thrilled to have a ‘plan in place’ after the ‘madness’ of persistent speculation over his future at Hibernian. The 19-year-old has penned a new contract committing him to the Easter Road side until 2026 and claims he ‘wouldn’t change it for the world’. The full-back only agreed fresh terms, tying him to Hibs until 2025, back in February. But, with continuing chatter around suitors in the English Premier League, the capital outfit have negotiated another new deal. He said: ‘It’s a weight off my shoulders. It was my first season last year and this summer was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, all the speculation, numbers on my head. It was a madness to say the least. ‘To be honest, it probably did affect me, but now getting this done puts a real plan in place for me. ‘I love working with everyone here, I’m so happy here and wouldn’t change it for the world. ‘It was always my dream growing up to be a professional footballer and now I’m living it. ‘They (Jack Ross and his coaching team) have been proper idol figures for myself. Jack Ross is my first proper manager and I will remember him giving me that chance for the rest of my life.’ Doig proved his credentials with a loan spell at Queen’s Park and is now relishing the prospect of a Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Rangers at the national stadium. He added: ‘I’m buzzing to have Hampden with fans. I can’t wait for it. ‘It’s such a big occasion, a semi-final.’
