After all those Regency balls, Bridgerton stars revel in booze-up at the bowling alley

THE cast of Bridgerton swapped Regency refinement for an alcohol-fuelled bowling party to celebrate the end of filming for the much awaited second series – but had to dig into their own pockets after Netflix bosses refused to splash out on a big do.

Champagne flowed as stars including Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley and Adjoa Andoh – who have nicknamed their group ‘Bridgergang’ – joined in the revelry until 2am on Thursday.

Despite the first series of the drama being the channel’s most popular programme ever, the event, called ‘Let’s go boozy bowling’, was funded by Bailey, 33, and Ms Ashley, 26 – after Netflix had only provided a very low-key event with sandwiches.

The pair were pictured leaving All Star Lanes in White City, West London. Dressed in a grey fur coat, the actress, who plays the main female character, Kate Sharma, in the forthcoming season, had swapped her bowling shoes for a pair of white stilettos as she laughed with Bailey, who plays her on-screen lover Anthony Bridgerton.

Ms Andoh, 58, who plays the glamorous Lady Danbury, opted for trainers and left her character’s trademark tiara at home.

Bailey sent out invitations requesting not to put photographs of the night on social media. Numbers were limited, so only full-time contracted staff were invited and no partners attended. The event began at 8pm with a champagne reception and there was also a Bridgerton 2 photobooth funded by Ms Ashley.

Meanwhile, it can be revealed that the second season is as raunchy as the first, with Anthony and Kate set to shock viewers with an ‘outrageous sex scene’ so risque that it had to be filmed in a closed set.

A source said: ‘If you think the last series was uninhibited, wait until you see this one.’
