YESTERDAY DOESN’T SEEM SO FAR AWAY

THERE is something evergreen about the Beatles. Their first No 1 in 1963 may be 58 years ago, but fans of every age are still tuning into a new documentary on the Fab Four in their droves.

Director Peter Jackson, of The Lord of the Rings fame, has transformed hours of unseen footage held in the vaults of Apple music into a tale of how the Let it Be album came to be recorded.

Amazingly, it still feels relevant and not like ancient history at all. In comparison, 58 years before the Beatles first topped the charts, Emmeline Pankhurst was taking part in the first Suffragette demonstration in 1905. Now that does feel like history beyond our grasp.
