War Of The Worlds

Steven Spielberg's update of H.G. Wells's novel isn't as good as the 1953 version, but it's still packed with tense moments and impressive special effects. Tom Cruise (above) plays a divorced father whose rare weekend with his kids is interrupted by an alien invasion, and staying alive proves dicey. ★★★★☆
