Tasmanian ruling body is facing more scandal
By Richard Gibson
THE woman who was subjected to Tim Paine’s sleazy sex texts previously complained about ‘sexual banter’ at Cricket Tasmania.
Renee Ferguson’s reporting of a colleague — another man, not Paine — is included in a 17-page document forwarded to the federal court as part of a sexual harassment claim.
The 47-year-old alleges she was sent explicit messages by Shannon Tubb, Paine’s brother-in-law. But the harassment complaint did not relate to either of them.
Paine resigned the Australian Test captaincy after the home team had named the squad to face England for the first two Tests of five when it came to light that his inappropriate text exchanges would go public.
Paine, 36, was cleared following an investigation by Tasmania that concluded the ‘sexting’ was consensual. However, it is reported that Ferguson’s lawyers have said she was not interviewed as part of that investigation.
Ferguson resigned her position at Cricket Tasmania in 2017 after being accused of stealing. She is due to appear before Tasmanian magistrates in January.
