I GREW

up less than 20 miles from Newburgh in Fife, a small and unremarkable coastal town on the Firth of Tay. Unremarkable, that is, apart from at Christmas time.

The town fathers have decided that Christmas lights depicting bells and angels are boring, so local primary children have designed them. Last year saw a two-legged ‘reinduck’ hybrid between a reindeer and duck, as well as a grumpy looking penguin. This year, youngsters have gone one better by designing a dinosaur in a Christmas jumper and a Covidinspired NHS rainbow with a Santa hat on top of its arch. Worth making a trip to see when I go home this Christmas time.
