Tom Cruise (above) can currently be seen returning to his Top Gun role in Maverick, but director Michael Mann’s stylish thriller proves he can also be hugely effective when cast against type. He stars as a ruthless hitman who hires a taxi driver (Jamie Foxx) to ferry him between jobs on what turns out to be a busy night for both of them. ★★★★
