Sack these Civil Service slackers

The article in last week’s

Mail on Sunday by Charlie Mullins – the founder of Pimlico Plumbers – about how he will stop paying his taxes if civil servants don’t return to the office, shows that he has a wealth of experience.

If the customers of Pimlico Plumbers had to wait more than an hour for someone to answer the phone, my guess is that the firm would never have become the success story it is today.

It is quite absurd that we allow civil servants to sit in the garden while supposedly working and reminding us that our call is important to them.

Why should we put up with having to wait over an hour to get through to HM Revenue & Customs? Or the bank, for that matter.

Put civil servants on notice and tell them that unless they are back at their desks by the end of May, we will be recruiting someone who is grateful to sit at their work station and answer their phone.

It’s not rocket science to actually do the job for which you have been rewarded so handsomely.
