Red Rose

This uncompromisingly lurid eight-part horror tale hinges on the distinctly modern concept of a deadly app. Called Red Rose, it invites users to follow instructions that promise to deliver fulfilment and happiness – but it seems are more likely to result only in death.

After a short preamble in which a young girl plunges off a roof, we flash-forward six months and the story proper begins in Bolton, where a group of teenagers is partying hard at the end of GCSEs.

Among them is the headstrong Rochelle (Isis Hainsworth, far right), who's distraught when she sees her best friend Wren (Amelia Clarkson, right) go off with a boy. Seconds later the Red Rose app arrives on her phone, and the wheels of fate are set in motion… Horror fans will feel they know what to expect, but a talented young cast injects plenty of energy. ★★★★★
