Fans voice their fury at Mankad

By Aadam Patel

A ROW blew up at Lord’s last night when India’s Deepti Sharma ‘mankaded’ Charlie Dean with England just 17 runs from victory to seal a 3-0 ODI series win for the visitors.

Dean was unbeaten on 47 when she wandered out of her crease at the non-striker’s end before Sharma broke off her delivery stride and whipped off the bails (above). Members of the England men’s team shared their views of the dismissal on social media, with Stuart Broad saying: ‘I personally wouldn’t like to win a match like that.’

As it was within the laws of the game, the umpires gave a tearful Dean out, a decision which was greeted by a chorus of boos at the Home of Cricket.

England captain Amy Jones said: ‘I’m not a fan but it depends how India feel about it.’

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said: ‘It’s part of the game, I don’t think she has done something which is not in the ICC rules. At the end of the day, a win is a win.’
