Saints deal worth shouting about

THE youngest son has decided, for reasons best known to himself, that he wants to go and watch St Johnstone.

He was taken to a game against Celtic recently and clearly believes that late rallies, last-gasp goals and stoppage-time winners is what it’s always all about. How difficult it will be to watch such innocence perish in the winter chill.

Hard on the heart, for sure, but not hard on the pocket. To take Junior and his older brother to the East Stand for the home game with Dundee United on January 2 costs £17 all-in. For the three of us. And this is the price Saints charge for every game, all season, for one adult and two Under-12s.

It is incredible value and great to see them understand the worth of bringing in potential fans at a young age. Yet, it raises one big question: In a time where the general price of tickets attracts such negativity, why aren’t they shouting about this mega-deal from the rooftops?
