Wi-fi deal ‘let China see UK nuke secrets’
A FIRM part-owned by China had access to information about Britain’s nuclear weapons by providing wi-fi to UK military HQ and 45 other defence bases.
Media Force has supplied internet to the Armed Forces for nearly two decades. But from 2017 to 2020 it was run by Hong Kong firm PCCW, owned partly by the Chinese state.
Experts fear the bungle, exposed by the MoS, let China build a ‘comprehensive understanding of British military operations’. Former security officer Philip Ingram said: ‘It is shocking the MoD allowed this to happen.’ The MoD said PCCW was no longer involved with Media Force.
