Fix up a break with Jay, star of TV’s Repair Shop

Caroline Hendrie

CRUISE companies have expanded their horizons with enticing add-ons and extras. If you love a luxury voyage and have a taste for something new, these are my picks.

TRAVEL with famous faces on P&O’s new Sail With The Stars cruise, with entertainment and talks from The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades, right, Countryfile’s Helen Skelton and Ross Kemp of EastEnders fame. The one-week cruise, on Ventura, visiting Portugal, Spain and Guernsey, leaves from Southampton on May 20. Fares from £699pp (pocruises.com).

Gourmet vegan and gluten-free menus are on offer on luxury small ship line Windstar. Aboard 312-passenger Star Legend, sailing for ten days from Copenhagen to Amsterdam on August 14, you’ll navigate the Kiel Canal from the Baltic to the North Sea. Cruise-only fares from £3,950pp (0808 178 2233).

Cunard now offers train tours through the stunning Canadian Rockies with their Alaskan cruises. Ten nights from Vancouver on July 17 costs from £1,399pp (cunard.com). Silversea’s Silver Nova launches this year, with free-flowing drinks at a range of bars – from the airy Venetian Lounge to The Shelter seating just 32. The week-long Adriatic cruise costs from £5,600pp, departs Venice on August 14, and includes private transfers, flights, butler service, excursions and tips (silversea. com).
