OWLS FORCE A REPLAY WITH BROWN’S MEN

FLEETWOOD TOWN’S historic FA Cup run will continue after they managed a 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday to take the tie to a replay back at Highbury.

Having never got past the third round of the competition, Scott Brown (below) and his team had already taken the club deeper than ever before with their win over Queens Park Rangers.

And after Promise Omochere put the Cods ahead after 18 minutes, turning in Danny Armstrong’s cross, there was hope the run would continue. However, Wednesday, who made history themselves in the last round knocking out Premier League high-fliers Newcastle United, fought back and eventually levelled, albeit in fortuitious circumstances when Mallik Wilks’ header went in off Josh Earl.

The Owls pushed for a victory but Lee Gregory could only head over late on as the clubs get set to face each other for the fourth time since Christmas Day.

Brown though, was delighted his side were able to force a replay, saying: ‘It was a great performance by the lads.

‘The lads worked so hard and I can’t be any more grateful for their willingness and desire get into the final third and also to play the right way.’
