Casemiro is all class as United see off Reading

By George Grant

AFTER going in level at the break, Reading manager Paul Ince must have thought he could take his old club to the Madejski Stadium in a replay.

Within 20 minutes of the restart, however, it was game over. Manchester United turned on the style and booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Casemiro kickstarted the hosts into life, collecting an Antony pass and charging through the Reading defence to lift the ball over goalkeeper Joe Lumley.

The Brazilian doubled United’s lead four minutes later, finding the bottom corner from 25 yards.

Fred, off the bench for Christian Eriksen, flicked in from Bruno Fernandes’ corner to make it 3-0 and put the game beyond doubt.

Andy Carroll then saw red for a second booking after a late challenge on Casemiro before the Royals’ Amadou Salif Mbengue nodded home for a nervy finish but, in truth, United already had it in the bag.
