TUTTI FRUTTI

IPLAYER DRAMA

Recently shown on BBC4 in tribute to Robbie Coltrane and as part of the Beeb’s centenary celebrations, the wonderfully dark yet comedic six-part Tutti Frutti, from artist/writer John Byrne, is unmissable stuff. It may take a while for non-Glaswegians to tune in to the dialect but it’s worth sticking with, not least for a chance to see a young Emma Thompson being wooed by Coltrane’s low-rent musician (right, with Thompson), who has been persuaded to join his dead brother’s hapless rock band. Richard Wilson co-stars as their conniving manager. Available now
