STILL QUESTIONS ON ‘MISSING’ £600K

AN initial police report into the whereabouts of £600,000 in ‘missing’ donations to the SNP has been sent to prosecutors.

Police Scotland said further inquiries are now being undertaken, in line with guidance from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

The money was raised from members and donors in a bid to provide financing for a second independence referendum.

A complaint was later made to police after no apparent trace of it could be found in party accounts.

Claims the cash may have been fraudulently diverted for purposes other than those for which it was raised are being investigated by detectives.

Scottish Conservative chairman Craig Hoy said last night: ‘Peter Murrell’s resignation is long overdue and there now remain serious questions for him to answer, not least over the “missing” £600,000 from party accounts.’
