Model’s crazy £8,000 coat brings whole new meaning to term ‘double-breasted’

MODEL Suki Waterhouse took the phrase ‘double-breasted jacket’ to extremes as she modelled an extraordinary coat last week.

Her bizarre tweed jacket features leather breast patches dipped in gold and ‘hand-crafted’ nipples – and comes with a hefty £8,000 price tag. But while the 29-year-old British model turned heads during her photoshoot in Los Angeles, she seem unfazed by all the attention.

The coat, by Italian couture house Schiaparelli, is inspired by the Surrealist painters, and also features buttons bearing unsettling images of eyes.

The fashion house’s website describes the ‘leather breasts coat’ as ‘crafted from wool and silk tweed developed exclusively in Scotland’ and ‘adorned with trompe l’oeil lambskin moulded in the shape of breasts, dipped in gold and hammered by hand to show the detail of the nipple’.

‘Influenced by Salvador Dali and bizarre images’

Boulevard ‘lasted six or seven hours’ and involved Ms Waterhouse changing into several outfits, including a revealing ‘criss-cross’ silver top. ‘Suki looked pretty happy with the whole thing,’ said one. ‘She seemed to enjoy changing into the different outfits and appeared comfortable even though some of the clothes she was wearing were quite revealing.’

The Vogue cover girl in her designer couture contrasted with the low-rent aesthetic of the motel and its neon signs offering ‘adult movies’ and ‘water bed.’ In another shot she draped herself over a Toyota car.

While designer Elsa Schiaparelli died in 1973, the fashion house which still bears her name is considered one of the most ‘fashion forward’ in the business.

One LA-based designer said: ‘During her life,

Schiaparelli was bold and innovative and took her inspiration from artists like Salvador Dali. She was influenced by surrealism and striking and bizarre images.’ Ms Waterhouse recently moved to California with her boyfriend, actor Robert Pattinson, after he finished filming the forthcoming Batman movie in the UK.

A source said: ‘They’ve moved to LA and Suki is trying to get her career off the ground in America.’
