Five hurt in stands scare
FIVE spectators were injured yesterday when stands collapsed during a Trooping The Colour rehearsal in London.
As dozens of people rose for the National Anthem at Horse Guards Parade, the floor of a seating area gave way, injuring three. Shortly afterwards part of another stand collapsed, leaving two more hurt.
The spectators had been watching the Major-General’s Review, a rehearsal for the Queen’s Review that is due to take place on June 2.
Author Zoe Clark-Coates, who was at the event, said: ‘Part of the floor in the stand collapsed and at least one person fell through.’
None of the injuries were thought to be life-threatening.
