Cleared, staff who took care home residents to strip show

By Gordon Currie

THREE care workers who took vulnerable residents to a male strip show to fulfil a bucket list request have been cleared of criminal charges.

They were found not guilty of ‘ill-treating or wilfully neglecting’ the care home residents after taking them in a minibus to the saucy show in the run-up to Christmas 2018.

One resident complained about the trip the following morning after being shocked when a naked male stripper clambered over her wheelchair.

Lisa Dolan, 48, said she had expected the show to be like the movie The Full Monty.

But she told Dundee Sheriff Court she had to smack the young stripper on the bottom to get rid of him as he stood completely naked in front of her, making her feel ‘vulnerable’.

She said Caitlin Gibb, 22, Shannon Briggs, 25, and Samantha Brunton, 36, all of Dundee, became ‘happy’ during the evening and were seen buying drinks. The accused were alleged to have consumed alcohol and failed to properly care for Miss Dolan and another resident, Sandra McGowan.

But after hearing Crown evidence, Sheriff David Hall acquitted the trio of any wrongdoing. They had denied the charge.

The trip to Baxter’s in Dundee had been organised by the city’s Linlathen Neurodisability Centre after a former resident put it on her bucket list.
