Hopefully he stopped at the lights!

By Piriyanga Thirunimalan

IT already had the baubles and the silver string of beads – all that was missing from this Christmas tree were the (hazard) lights.

Strapped to a cyclist’s back, this decorated tree was expertly transported through London’s streets – proving nothing could get in the way of one man’s festivities.

And another shopper, clearly without access to a car, also took the imaginative green option – by riding his tree home on an electric scooter. The images came on the busiest weekend in December for buying Christmas spruces – and after reports said costs were being slashed this year in a tree price war.

Aldi claimed to have undercut its rivals by ‘selling the cheapest Christmas trees this season’ at £16.99, which was then matched by Lidl. Tesco then halved the cost of its medium tree from £30 to £15.
