New alert after chemists run short of Calpol
PHARMACIES are being hit by a new wave of drug shortages, with many struggling to obtain painkillers used by youngsters such as Calpol and liquid versions of paracetamol.
‘It’s not just children’s painkillers – it’s a range of other common medicines,’ said Dr Leyla Hannbeck, boss of the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies.
‘Other medicines including Lemsip and Gaviscon are hard to get hold of too.’
Dr Hannbeck blamed the problems on producing raw ingredients in India and China. But she urged patients not to panic-buy, adding: ‘Pharmacists are doing everything they can.’
