STOLEN MEAT ON THE MENU

SHOPLIFTERS are stealing fresh meat from supermarkets and selling it on to restaurants and takeaways. Investigators from TM Eye, a private policing service, said they filmed one prolific shoplifter going into a Middle Eastern restaurant in Central London with a carrier bag full of steaks, which he sold to two chefs inside. A survey by Facewatch – a facial recognition company that operates cameras inside Co-op and Budgens stores – found that fresh meat was the most stolen product in supermarkets, ahead of razors and nappies.
