Celebrity jungle’s final four battle the Cyclone trial... before a REAL one heads for the camp

From Dolly Busby IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

THERE had been threats that the I’m A Celebrity jungle would be hit with a real life cyclone as it draws to a close tonight.

But that didn’t stop the show’s infamous challenge – also called Cyclone – from going ahead, as the final four campmates Nigel Farage, Josie Gibson, Tony Bellew and Sam Thompson battled it out with a huge slip and slide in a bid to win four stars.

As part of the demanding trial, gigantic exercise balls and powerful jets of water were sprayed at the celebrities as they attempted to make the chaotic journey up a slimy tarpaulin – all while wearing superhero-style hotpants and a cape.

And the challenge wasn’t without its drama when Everton fan Bellew, 41, almost refused to don his red shorts and cape – the colour of his team’s rival, Liverpool.

Former Ukip leader Mr Farage, 59, was the first celebrity to make the trip carrying four stars to his marker. He was followed by This Morning’s Ms Gibson, 38, who took three from him. Made In Chelsea’s Mr Thompson, 31, was next to take two stars, with Mr Bellew completing the trial – and travelling the furthest – carrying the final star.

It’s the show’s longest-running Bushtucker Trial and a fan favourite, with the celebrities all aiming to make it far enough in the show to take part in the challenge.

But it came under threat from Cyclone Jasper, a category four tropical storm, as 130mph winds were set to hit the jungle right as the trial was filmed. Luckily, the storm proved to be ‘unusually slow’ moving and is now scheduled to hit North Queensland tomorrow, after filming for the show is over.

Though the celebrities all made it through the trial injury-free, offscreen Farage’s girlfriend Laure Ferrari was left shaken following a surfing accident. She was rushed to hospital in Surfers Paradise, where the families of the I’m A Celebrity finalists are waiting to be reunited.

But yesterday she appeared to be on the mend as she joined the I’m A Celebrity stars’ loved ones. Though wearing a sling, she was seen laughing with previous contestant and jockey Frankie Dettori.
