Virus rules stop deportation of pervert monk

A PERVERT monk is stuck in prison waiting to be sent back to Australia after coronavirus halted deportations.

Former Benedictine monk Denis Alexander preyed on two children while working as a history teacher at Fort Augustus Abbey school in the 1970s.

The 85-year-old attacked the boys during yoga classes and at his study in the Inverness-shire institution.

He later moved to Australia but was returned to face justice after years of battling moves to bring him to Scotland.

Alexander was jailed for four years and five months in July but because of time spent on remand was due to be freed shortly after sentence.

But the Mail understands the Australian national is still in prison as he cannot be sent to Australia due to coronavirus rules.

One jail source said: ‘Normally people awaiting deportation are sent to immigration facilities. In Alexander’s case, the decision was taken to keep him in prison until he can be deported.’

Alexander admitted two charges of indecent behaviour against the boys.
