Follow-up

WE WERE enjoying a short break in yorkshire. We stopped at a lovely old pub and got talking to a young man who asked where we were from.

‘dover, in Kent,’ we said. ‘Mmm,’ he replied, ‘i have a mate who went down there to live. do you know him?’ ‘Where does he live?’ we asked. He thought for a minute. ‘Portsmouth.’ it’s not just the Americans!
