A study in Neuroscience showed that older adults who exercised regularly performed better on complex cognitive tasks than those who didn’t — and their brain function was comparable to that of younger adults. ‘High levels of physical activity and cardiorespiratory fitness [that raise heart rate and lung capacity] allow you to recruit additional brain regions that help you maintain accuracy levels,’ the Texas University researchers said.
