Best for: festive fish

With eight restaurants along the Devon and Cornwall coasts and three more opening soon, Rockfish is expanding fast. But that doesn’t mean it compromises on quality, with sustainably caught seafood – Brixham hake fillet, Devon lobster, Portland Pearl oysters – at respectable prices. Look out for the tinned British fish (sardines and mackerel in particular), which, for me, is up there with some of the best in the world. There’s a good, well-priced wine list, too. The ideal gift for anyone serious about seafood.
