Dutch warmth
THE letter from Willemien Ebels about the ‘Dutch Donald trump’ Geert Wilders reminded me of the year i spent working in holland in 1967, when i was 18.
my father, who had been in the Raf during the war, came to visit and suffered toothache. he went to a dentist, who treated him and, when my father asked how much he owed, replied: ‘You owe me nothing. i will never forget what the British did for us Dutch during World War ii.’
