Christmas can still be special
I have seldom been so moved at this time of year as when I read Peter Hitchens’ comment last week. I think the reason that many people are disappointed when Christmas finally arrives is because it has become a hollow, shallow pantomime, devoid of any special meaning and is now just an excuse for an orgy of excess. Just try reacquainting yourself with the true meaning of Christmas and you may find thoughtfulness the best present you ever had.

A beautiful article by Mr Hitchens. Advent is a lovely season, especially in the liturgy. There is a special solemnity as we light the candles of the Advent
Wreath, one by one, as we journey towards Christmas.
